In simpler terms, it is the process of growing plants in water rich nutrients without the use of soil. Aquaponics is the integration of recirculating aquaculture production with hydroponic plant production. Simply put, aquaponics is a system for farming fish and plants together in a mutually beneficial cycle. Fish produce waste which is great fertilizer for plants. The plants take in all of the nutrients and in turn purify the water which is good for the fish.
These types of farming systems have the potential to produce food and energy without infringing on freshwater resources and to reduce the environmental impacts associated with farming. The foods are organic. No pestisides or chemicals are used during the process.
SIFarmsintl is committed to the advancement of hydroponics and aquaponics as a sustainable growing methodology. To that end, SIFarmsintl has created and is operating the first fully functioning commercial size aquaponics/hydroponics facility in Arizona.
